(Yicai) April 25 -- SenseTime Group’s stock price rose again today, after ending 31 percent higher yesterday following the release of the Chinese artificial intelligence developer’s latest version of SenseNova, its large language model.

SenseTime [HKG: 0020] closed up 3.8 percent at 83 Hong Kong cents (11 US cents) a share in Hong Kong, after leaping by 20 percent earlier today. Yesterday, the stock soared by as much 36 percent at one point to the most in over two years before the shares were halted from trading.

SenseNova 5.0 matches the overall capabilities of OpenAI's GPT-4 Turbo, its Shanghai-based creator said. The latest version shows the advancement in adopting generative AI for industrial applications, enabling users with on-demand access to large models, the firm added.

Companies such as SenseTime, Baidu and Alibaba are racing to bring out increasingly sophisticated LLM models, reflecting China’s commitment to becoming a global leader in AI technology and innovation. More than 100 LLMs are now registered in the country for generative AI services, according to the Cyberspace Administration.

SenseNova 5.0’s capabilities in knowledge processing, reasoning, mathematics, and coding match or surpass that of GPT-4 Turbo based on objective evaluations, SenseTime said. Test results also show that SenseNova 5.0 has significantly enhanced interdisciplinary capabilities, adding new multimodal interactions, it noted.

Trained on an extensive dataset of over 10 terabytes of tokens, covering a vast array of synthetic data, SenseNova 5.0 adopts a Mixture of Experts, enabling effective context window coverage of around 200,000 during inference, according to SenseTime.

Since its debut last April, SenseNova has undergone five major iterations and is being used in various sectors, including healthcare, education, and the law.
