Shanghai Brings In New Quarantine Rule for Overseas Returnees Shanghai Brings In New Quarantine Rule for Overseas Returnees

(Yicai Global) March 27 -- Starting tomorrow, all passengers arriving in Shanghai from overseas will be put into a 14-day quarantine at designated facilities, the city's coronavirus disease prevention and control authority said tonight.

Nucleic acid tests will be done at checkpoints for all returnees, according to a notice released on March 22. For the new quarantine policy, the elderly, minors, pregnant women, people with reduced mobility, and those who care for the elderly or children, or have basic illnesses not suitable for designated isolation can apply to self-isolate at home if their tests prove negative, the statement said.

Other regulations apply to diplomats and those engaged in important economic, trade, scientific research and technical cooperation.

All travelers coming to Shanghai from overseas must undergo a 14-day isolation and quarantine starting yesterday, according to the authority.

As of yesterday, Shanghai has reported 129 imported Covid-19 cases, according to the city's health commission.
